A multilingual support team (French, English, Spanish, Italian, Mandarin) is available     6 days a week to accompany you in your housing research. IDs to register are given        when registration becomes effective

French law requires foreign students to have sufficient means to support themselves during their studies without employment. The minimum monthly budget is €615.

Monthly expenses

Food: in the university restaurants, €3.25 per meal (2018/2019 rate)

Transport: 2019 rates: bus ticket: €1,50  (The ticket is valid for 1 hour in Angers transports).


Prices vary from €300 to €450 depending on the location, the type of flat occupation (flat-sharing or not) and the size of the room.

In Saint Barthelemy itself, you may find affordable rooms at the inhabitants’ places.

International opportunities

48% of Angers’ inhabitants are younger than 30 years old. The city caters for them by organising leisure activities and events throughout the year. All the necessary information can be found on an internet portal

For overseas students, the city organises an annual welcome-ceremony in September. It also puts on a free concert-evening for all new arrivals.

Cultural and economic heritage

Angers, like many big French towns, is a city full of history. You will find all the information you need on museums, chateaux, monuments and other beauty spots to visit on the tourist office website.

Angers is also proud of its economic heritage. You can therefore visit a number of companies that help give the town its reputation: slate mines, Cointreau, communication museum…

The Angers campus houses a number of student associations. Foreign students can of course take part in all activities offered by the student union, sport, cinema with films in their original version, events in favour of the humanitarian association…

Students Bureau is an active and committed team that energizes the campus. It boosts the conviviality of all campus activities.

Sports Bureau offers various activities and friendly events to strengthen cohesion between students at ESAIP.

An association was created for overseas students:  “International student association”. ISA together with the international relations department welcomes foreign students, helps them integrate the campus and accompanies them with administrative formalities (accommodation, telephone, benefits, transport…). The association also offers weekends to discover a town.

RISC Council : pilots business projects. These missions offer you the opportunity to put into practice the skills you have learned at esaip.

“PESF” aims to deploy a humanitarian commitment to developing countries.

How to get to esaip from Angers station?

Take the tramway direction “Avrillé” as far as “Foch-Maison Bleue”.
Then take the bus line 4, direction “Saint Barthélemy d’Anjou” and get off at stop “Gemmétrie” (all with one ticket at €1.50)

You are a future international student of ESAIP, use the university housing platform on which you will be able to:

Cités universitaires

Room in town centre, in individual apartment or shared, furnished or not.
Any French or overseas student, depending on certain conditions, can claim the Aide Personnalisée au Logement (APL – housing benefit)


European Union national students in exchange with a French institution are exempt from social security rights and must be equipped with the European health insurance card that they obtain from the social security centre of their country of origin or private insurance – documents valid for the whole duration of the stay in France. Students outside of the European Union are not exempt from contributing to the student social security regime, even if they benefit from health coverage in their country.

Bank account

It is strongly advised to open a bank account for illness refunds, to obtain a credit card or cheque book. Overseas students can open a non-resident bank account (in Euros or another currency) or a resident account (in Euros or another currency) if the duration of the stay justifies it. It is advised to ask your usual bank (overseas) if this is associated with a French network, to facilitate transactions.

Good to know

Payment by credit card is accepted by most traders from €15 (indeed less). A number of cash dispensers are available everywhere (in town, in shopping centres …)
